A. W. McGarvey Law Office - Criminal Defence Legal Fees

After a legal assistant determines that our office is suited to assist you, we will schedule an initial consultation. Your initial consultation will take between 30 minutes to an hour (or more) depending on the complexity of your situation. Without any obligation to hire us, we will answer questions and provide practical, as well as legal, information that will help you determine your next steps.

If after the initial consultation you wish to hire us (approximately 95% of consults do), we will further discuss our fee structure with you. Hourly rates are available to all of our clients. In-office consult fees, as well as Court services fees are applied to all criminal files. Initial deposits are required and applied to each criminal case. In addition to our professional fees, there are out of pocket expenses (disbursements), or extraordinary expenses, such as the cost to retain investigators or medical and other experts. In some circumstances legal fees may be reduced at our discretion. We are not an inexpensive office, and competent and less expensive services are available at rates less than ours from other offices. Our hourly service fee is $400.00 and our minimum fee for attending Court is $500.00. Trial fees are a minimum of $6000.00.

 

Contingency fee (percentage) agreements are available for some civil cases (law suits) and personal injury clients, which means we receive a percentage of your final settlement, with no fees paid until the end of your case. On contingency cases, we pay all costs while your case is ongoing, and we get paid our fees from settlement or court award, at the end of the case, and you reimburse our out-of-pocket expenses at that time.
